moke won't start please help

Post by Ayden » Tue Jun 14, 2016 12:39

hey
i have a 73 moke and it will not start. it was starting really easily until i started messing around with the choke cable. i put the cable back to where it was originally now it won't start at all it turns over but doesn't fire. the only reason i was messing around with the choke was because if the choke is off the moke will always stall. any help will be appreciated.

If the engine won't run without the choke being out it would seem you have a problem with your carb. You should only need the choke to get it started then for a minute or two after
At least can add up

Check that the choke itself is moving when you push the cable back as it can get stuck in the open position.

How do you prevent it sticking in future?

Get a new choke cable or WD40 or penetrating oil or other?

Get a new cable. If you start putting lubrication in the sleeve it attracts dust and grit which makes things worse

Did you get it started?

If so what was the problem that you overcame and how did you do it?

The late zipTPH or my father as you know it. Responds with the standard "fuel air spark." Spark is the easiest to check, so always do that first. Air could be as simple too. Fuel is always the hardest. Without more of a description or a word on whether it is working now is kinda silly. It's ok to do a forehead smack when you figure it out and accomplish a result. "My head has hurt," on more than a few occasions with various types of transportation.

Yep, they are not exceedingly or extortionately expensive and are relatively easy to fit.

Did 'Ayden' get his Mini Moke started, and if so what was the cause of the trouble?
